PHOENIX – December 17, 2012 – GWR Global Water Resources Corp. (TSX: GWR) and Global Water Resources, Inc. (“Global Water”) today announced that the City of Kennedale, Texas (the “City”), has contracted Global Water’s FATHOM™ platform to provide the City with a fully integrated, end‐to‐end Customer Information System (CIS), including utility billing, customer care, and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).The City’s selection of FATHOM™ is significant as it represents direct action by the city to address the area’s ongoing drought with effective water conservation plans, powerful customer services tools, upgraded infrastructure, and real‐time data.
“We currently provide customer service, billing and meter reading activities in‐house,” said Bob Hart, City Manager. “When we visited Global Water, we saw first‐hand how their investments in technology could transform our own operations and increase service with real‐time data and robust customer‐facing tools. FATHOM™ supports our initiatives to eliminate meter‐related water loss and promote water conservation methods during these challenging water‐scarce times. We believe a partnership with Global Water represents a real opportunity to affect positive change for our City.”
Mr. Trevor Hill, President & CEO, Global Water stated, “Water is a finite resource and with the recent droughts in Texas, the ability of Kennedale – and all cities in Texas – to reduce overall water consumption through sustainable consumption behavior is of utmost importance. The combination of our AMI and CIS platforms will educate the City’s customers on their water usage behaviors in real time, which in our experience leads to a natural reduction in overall water demands.”
“We are thrilled the City has selected our integrated, geospatially focused FATHOM™ CIS and AMI offering. Choosing FATHOM™ to effectively achieve sustained conservation, customer engagement and operational objectives will benefit Kennedale in many ways, specifically in terms of data collection and analysis, advanced technologies, improved service levels, and revenue increases. We are confident the results will serve as a model for other Texas cities to adopt demand side management in addition to their supply side strategies and affect real change in the water industry and in Texas,” Mr. Hill concluded.
