PHOENIX, AZ – February 9, 2011 – GWR Global Water Resources Corp. (the “Company”), Global Water Resources, Inc. (“Global Water”) and the City of Grass Valley, California (“Grass Valley” or the “City”) announced today that they have signed an agreement to implement all three product offerings of Global Water’s FATHOM™ Utility-to-Utility (U2U™) Solutions. Global Water was selected through a formal Request for Proposals process, which was officially approved by Grass Valley’s city council last night. FATHOM is a suite of software and services proven to save utilities money, time and water.
The Grass Valley contract calls for the replacement of approximately 2,400 manually read water meters with FATHOM’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (“AMI”) and the provision of customer service and billing for 4,200 water and wastewater customers throughout the city. AMI provides hourly meter reads instead of the more conventional one manual meter read per month. This data is then used in conjunction with FATHOM’s Customer Information System (“CIS”) to create more timely and accurate billing for Grass Valley customers and allows them to view their consumption history online. In addition, the City is implementing FATHOM’s Asset Management solution, which will help the City achieve significant reductions in operational expenses by moving from reactive to proactive asset maintenance.
As Dan Holler, City Administrator for Grass Valley stated, “Global Water’s proposal represented the best value for the City and its residents. FATHOM’s proven technology and financing bundle allows the City to extend our service hours, increase our customer payment options and obtain state-of-the-art meter and asset management technology. This partnership gives us access to proven technology delivered through a unique “utility-to-utility” offering that increases customer service levels and improves operational capacities at a price that is competitive with the cost of operations we experience today.”
“Today’s announcement takes our roll-out of FATHOM to a new level, and once again demonstrates that utilities working together can provide material benefits. FATHOM offers cities a unique opportunity to access advanced technologies for their utilities without the headaches of implementation, integration and upfront capital. In today’s economy it’s about doing more with less. FATHOM is a perfect solution for small and medium sized utilities,” said Trevor Hill, President and CEO of Global Water and CEO of the Company.
FATHOM is deployed as an integrated suite of utility-to-utility services including AMI, CIS and Asset Management solutions. The solution is hosted in a secure cloud computing environment, which makes implementation rapid and requires no additional IT personnel or infrastructure from the City. The platform has been proven to significantly lower utility operating costs while improving service levels and is deployed as a turn-key, bundled solution including financing.
